History and Origin
Unique in its kind, Japanese cheesecake does not have a long history behind it. It is said to have originated in the 1960s, when Western desserts began to gain popularity in Japan. In the hands of Japanese chefs, cheesecake shed the biscuit base of its Anglo-Saxon cousin and a good portion of its sugar. Our partner Takumi is the first manufacturer of authentic Japanese cheesecakes in Paris and takes its name from a centuries-old tradition in Japan: "Takumi" are master artisans who have reached the pinnacle of their art after at least 60,000 hours spent perfecting it.
